I recently purchased an older Marlin 39. It is the HS variety of the model 39, but upon removal of the bolt I discovered the firing pin is broken. The firing pin floats in the bolt and depending on how clean the channel is that the pin rides in it will sometimes keep the firing pin from moving freely. With that info you can now go to the next show and keep buying 39A's till the funds run out. Have fun.
